Muse Inspiried Card!

Hello Friends!  Here we are at the end of July already!  Only a month and a bit left of summer!  It's really flying by! Sadly we have cool weather here!  Today you need long pants and a hoody how cool it is!  Last week was the same and looks like next week too, hoping for summer to come back!

Today I have a card to play along with the Muse Challenge!  I am new to this challenge, when I saw that my friend Lynn was the Muse I was inspired by her card to play along!

I was inspired by the colors Lynn used (loved that she was inspired by a dress her niece designed!)  I was inspired by how she stamped onto colored cardstock (not something I do often) so I did too!  And instead of using a Polaroid like she did I switched it up and used a speech bubble!

I am also entering this card into this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge of Anything Goes!

I added a new wreath to my shop, it was a custom order and I liked it so much I added it to my shop!  It's one of my first ones with an initial!  I can add an initial to any wreath for $5!  You can find it here.

Last week we enjoyed a trip to Minneapolis!  We had such a great time!  We drove as it's just over 6 hours away, the kids did pretty good with the drive!  We went to the Minnesota Children's Museum, The Komo Zoo, Spent the day at Valley Fair (and the soak city there) took the Mono Rail from MOA to Minneapolis downtown and did lots of shopping and trying new restaurants!  The kids also really enjoyed swimming at the hotel pool each day too!  What a great trip!  :>

That's it from me!  See you soon!

Tired of Texting Hero Arts Hostess Hop!

Hello!  Today I am hoping along with my fellow Hero Arts hostesses!  Being a Hero Arts hostess (now over 2 years ago!)  was simply a dream come true!  I love Hero Arts stamps and love the community!  Once a hostess always a hostess!  :>

You can find all the information here on the Hero Arts Blog!  You should have arrived here from the talented Sue!  I am excited to share this card with you, it's inspired by texting!  While I am not a huge texter (shocking I know) I much prefer chatting on the phone so I can craft while I chat!  But texting is huge way of socailizing now a days!  The conversation background along with the sentiment made me think of texting on an iphone and this card was born:

Hero Arts: Typewriter notes set, Conversation Background, Typewriter Alphabet set,       Thanks a bunch
                 Inks:  Wet Cement, Splash, Black
Dies:  Hearts by Lawn Fawn

I stamped the background with wet cement and than stamped the sentiments over top in the same ink.  I used various sentiments from different Hero Arts sets, sentiments that are used a lot in texting.  I am happy with how this card turned out, so fun!

If you want to skip the recipe (why would you do that, it's soooooo good) the next stop is Judy!

Now for a recipe!  I love baking and don't mind cooking!  LOL  In fact I often craft so I DON"T BAKE!  I like to keep busy!  Not only do I love to bake but I also love to eat  my baking!  So that's why I try not to bake! I struggled with what to share.  While I love baking I can't think of what to share.  So I thought I would share this recipe from here Banana Brownies!  I've made them 3 times in the last month and a half!  The brown butter frosting is to die for!  I suggest youtubing how to make brown butter frosting so you can see it, it can be finicky but I think once you watch it no problem!

Banana Bread Brownies

1-1/2 c. sugar
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1-3/4 (3 or 4) ripe bananas, mashed
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
Brown Butter Frosting:
1/2 c. butter
4 c. powdered sugar
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 tbsp. milk
1.  Heat oven to 375F.  Grease and flour 15×10-inch jelly roll pan.  For the bars, in a large bowl, beat together sugarsour creambutter, and eggs until creamy.  Blend in bananas and vanilla extract.  Add flourbaking sodasalt, and blend for 1 minute.  Stir in walnuts.
2.  Spread batter evenly into pan.  Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
3.  Meanwhile, for frosting, heat butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until boiling.  Let the butter turn a delicate brown and remove from heat immediately.
4.  Add powdered sugarvanilla extract and milk.  Whisk together until smooth (it should be thicker than a glaze but thinner than frosting).  Using a spatula, spread the brown butter frosting over the warm bars (the frosting will be easier to spread while the bars are still warm).
I don't bake it in a jelly roll pan as I don't have one!  I bake it on my cookie sheet the same size and since it's 1 inch in height it's perfect!  This makes a lot so it's great to make when your going to a bbq or a summer celebration!  And trust me everyone loves it!  Like my neighbors!
Thank you for stopping by!  The next stop for the hop is Judy!

Gold Embrodiered Bouquet!

Hello Friends!  It's been a busy week!  But a fun and busy week!  We enjoyed each day!  Today has been slightly exhausting but it's worth it, tomorrow we leave for a trip to Minneapolis!  The kids are so excited as are Chad and me!  Still a bit more to pack and get ready but I wanted to stop by and share a card!  I know I am not the only one who loves gold embossing powder:

Wplus9 Design studios Embroidered Bouquet, Gold Embossing powder, versamark, hero arts layering paper, bazzill cardstock.

A pretty simple design.  I framed the pool paper with gold paper to make the gold embossing stand out!  And yes I used cornstarch before I embossed!

This week has been fabulous!  On Tuesday the kids swam for almost 5 hours non stop in a friends pool!  They all couldn't get enough I had to drag them out!  What a great day it was!  They were so wiped they went to bed so fast!  Than on Wednesday we met up with a bunch of friends at a wading pool and park, the kids all had so much fun and I had a great time with a lot of my mom friends!  What a great afternoon!  Yesterday Chad and I had haircuts and than afterwards Ariel and I went on a Mommy Daughter date and got pedicures!  It was Ariel's first time!  I kept it a surprise till we were in front of the salon!  She was so excited!  What a great week!  Looking forward to our week away!  :>

That's it for me!  Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

A Hello Card and More!

Hello!  Happy Monday!  I hope it's sunny where you are like it is here!  A very hot and gorgeous day today!  We stayed home (boring) cleaned up and organized and took a rest day.  Carter is still having some bad days (sore tummy and bringing up) so taking a rest day today.  I got a lot done but I've moved on to paper's clean enough!  It's been so busy with summer and all sorts of things that I am finding that if I don't choose to paper craft and really say it's time for this I don't do it, and I miss it!

Today I have a card to share that has Burlap on it!  I had to get burlap to make a wreath!  And the first burlap I bought wasn't the right stuff and I was so happy to get a better burlap in April....I haven't made a wreath yet but hey I did use it for a card!  I like how it looks on this card!

Stamps:  Avery Elle:  Petals and Stems
Dies:  My Favorite Things Happy Hello die
Inks:  Hero Arts:  Bubble gum pink, orange soda, butterball  Colorbox:  Moss Green
Cardstock:  Bazzill

I recently got the Happy Hello die from My Favorite things and I love it!  Glad I finally used it on a card!  With the burlap it wasn't going to be the easiest to adhere so I put a strong liquid glue on the edge of the o and that basically is holding it on the card!  I adhered the flowers and leaves together and than adhered it to the burlap with foam adhesive, seems to be holding on!

By the way I am having a sale at my etsy shop AnitaRexDesigns!  Save 15% off until July 18,2013!  Use code:  SUMMERFUN2013  I would love it if you saved this image and shared this on your blog or like my AnitaRexDesigns facebook page here and share the image there!  Thank you!

We have been very much enjoying summer!  Hitting pools, wading pools, parks, strawberry picking and having fun with friends! This past weekend the kids spent two nights at the cabin with my inlaws and Chad enjoyed some time to ourselves!  We had a date went out for dinner and than saw:

We loved it!  We love the first one and this one was just as good, Shaquille O Neal really had quite a few laughs from us, I hope he does more comedy!  On Saturday we did a bit of shopping (dragged Chad to two craft stores!)  Had a great long nap than we went out with some friends of ours to watch the football game and after that we went to see:

Yes it was good, would I want to see it again nope, I hate fighting movies!  And over the weekend I read:

Yes it's a follow up to the popular Devil Wears Prada and it's really good.  While I had no idea what to expect from the book I really enjoyed it!   A great story!

And that's it for me!  We are off for some after dinner frozen yogurt!

Two Cards and a Winner!

Hello Friends!  I hope that you have had a great start to July!  We did, we went swimming at a friends pool, last weekend was a long weekend and we went to the cabin!  Than both kids were struck with a sore tummy virus Ariel late last week and Carter this past week, he had it the worst and spent four days on the couch, which is most unlike him!  After the worst night with him (lots of crying and loud!  Telling us his tummy wants to be alone!)He woke up feeling so much better!

It's no secret that heat embossing is my favorite!  I love it!  I had a card idea in my head and it involved heat embossing onto dark cardstock but my embossing buddy was being no buddy of mine!  What's a girl to do?  Why not try cornstarch?  So I brushed it onto the card and stamped and heat embossed and it look it turned out fabulous!  The embossing buddy is getting lower on the priority list! See it works:

Stamps:  WPlus9 Design Studio:  Quite Like You, Embroidered Bouquet
Ink:  Versamark by Tsuneko
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Twine by Doodlebug
White Embossing Powder by Hero Arts (the best white)

My next card is one that a friend asked for, she wanted a card for her daughter's teacher, a teacher appreciation and baby card!  I may have been stumped!  Teacher appreciation and a baby card and they don't know the gender?  I was really pleased with myself and what I came up with!

I embraced the teacher appreciation with the sentiment, the alphabet background (white on kraft so it's subtle) and the notebook stamp and the small wooden clip!  And I embraced the baby part with the giraffe and elephant!  Sticking with a neutral color scheme worked well!

Stamps:  Hero Arts:  Notebook paper, Alphabet background, Many Thanks (A baby set by Papertrey Ink can't remember the name too lazy to look!)
Ink:  Frost White by colorbox, Tide Pool, Bubble gum pink, cup of joe by Hero Arts
Cardstock:  bazzill

Now to anounce the winner for my June giveaway of the Zinnia stamp set by
